How to Play UNO All Wild

UNO All Wild strips out every number card. The entire deck is made of Wild and action cards, so there is no color-matching restriction — you can play any card in your hand on any turn.

That removes the “I have nothing to play” problem and turns the game into a pure back-and-forth of Skips, Draws, Swaps, and targeted attacks. It is fast, mean, and very easy to teach.

What's in the box

  • 112 cards — every one is a Wild or action card
  • Plain Wild cards (choose the next color)
  • Wild Skip, Wild Reverse, Wild Draw Two, Wild Draw Four
  • Wild Targeted Draw Two (choose who draws)
  • Wild Forced Swap (swap hands with a chosen player)

Setup

  1. Shuffle and deal 7 cards to each player.
  2. Form a face-down draw pile and flip the top card to start the discard.
  3. Because every card is wild, the starting card simply sets a color the first player may (but need not) follow.
  4. Play starts to the dealer’s left.

How to play — the rules

No matching required

On your turn you may play any single card from your hand — there is no need to match a color or number. Each card still triggers its own action, and Wilds still let you announce a color for flavor and for cards that reference color.

You still draw a card only when you genuinely cannot or choose not to play, which is rare because any card is legal.

The signature attack cards

  • Wild Targeted Draw Two — choose any player (not just your neighbor) to draw 2 cards.
  • Wild Forced Swap — trade your entire hand with a player you choose. Devastating when you are nearly out.
  • Wild Draw Two and Wild Draw Four — hit the next player for 2 or 4 cards.
  • Wild Skip and Wild Reverse — skip the next player or reverse direction, plus set a color.

A turn, step by step

  1. Choose any card from your hand — no matching needed.
  2. Play it and resolve its action, picking targets or a new color where required.
  3. Because you can almost always play, drawing is uncommon.
  4. Call “UNO” the moment you are down to one card.

How to win

You win by playing your last card, just like every UNO game. The twist is that Forced Swap and Targeted Draw Two let opponents undo a winning position, so getting to one card is not the same as being safe.

Groups usually play single quick rounds; you can keep score with the classic values if you want a longer match.

Strategy tips

  • Hold a Forced Swap for the endgame. Swapping your two cards for a rival’s seven can flip the entire round.
  • Targeted Draw Two lets you punish the leader specifically — don’t waste it on the player to your left out of habit.
  • Since every card is playable, focus on sequencing your attacks rather than hoarding a “safe” card.
  • Watch who is close to UNO and gang up — the targeted cards make coordinated attacks easy.

Frequently asked questions

Do you match colors in UNO All Wild?

No. Every card is wild, so you can play any card on any turn. Colors only matter for the theme and for resolving cards that ask you to choose one.

What is the Forced Swap card?

It lets you trade your whole hand with any player you choose. It is the most powerful card in the deck because it can instantly reverse who is winning.

Can you ever get stuck with no play?

Almost never — since any card is legal, you will nearly always have a move. Drawing is mostly a choice rather than a forced penalty.

Is UNO All Wild good for young kids?

Yes. Removing the matching rule makes it the easiest UNO to teach, though the swap and targeted-draw cards keep it interesting for adults.

House-rule ideas

  • Swap ban near the end: forbid Forced Swap once a player calls UNO, to reduce pure feel-bad moments.
  • Chain draws: allow Wild Draw Two / Draw Four to stack onto each other before resolving.
